Viewing IP RIP Information

Console Based :

Description: The purpose of this exercise is to view important information on IP RIP.

Show ip route command displays the current state of the routing table and this command is to be used in EXEC mode.

Show ip protocols command displays the parameters and current state of the active routing protocol processes and this command is to be used in EXEC mode.

Instructions:

1. Enter global configuration mode, and enable RIP routing on the router

2. Associate network 172.16.0.0 with RIP routing process

3. Issue the command that displays all entries in the Routing Table

4. Type the command that displays information about the IP routing protocols

GUI Based :

Description: The purpose of this exercise is to view important information on IP RIP. Show ip route command displays the current state of the routing table and this command is to be used in EXEC mode. Show ip protocols command displays the parameters and current state of the active routing protocol processes and this command is to be used in EXEC mode.

Instructions:

1. Select R1 from Select Device drop down box. Click Configure button , if left navigation pane was not enabled 

2. Choose configure > Interface Management > Interface and Connections.

3 In Edit Interface connections tab select the S0/0 interface and click edit button

4. Configure the IP address as 172.16.1.1 255.255.255.0 and enable the interface status.

5. Choose Router > Dynamic Routing Select RIP from the protocol list and click Edit button.

6. In the Edit IP dynamic routing window click add button.

7. Enter 172.16.1.0 as network address and click OK button.

8. Click view > IOS show commands and select “show ip route” from show command drop down box and click show button

9. Select “show ip protocols” from show command drop down box and click show button
