RIP2 Routing Configuration

Console Based : 

Description : This lab exercise demonstrates RIP version2 configuration and evaluates connectivity between the devices. The router rip version 2 command selects RIP V2 as the Routing Protocol. The network command assigns a major network number that the router is directly connected to.



Instructions:

1. Configure R1 with Ethernet 0 and serial 0 interfaces and assign IP Address 192.168.101.1 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 respectively and bring all the interfaces to up

2. Configure RIP v2 routing protocol on R1 with proper network statements

3. Configure R2 with Ethernet 0 and serial 0 interfaces and assign IP Address 192.168.100.1 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 respectively and bring all the interfaces to up

4. Configure RIP v2 routing protocol on R2 with proper network statements

5. Configure WS1 with IP Address 192.168.101.2 255.255.255.0 and default-gateway of  192.168.101.1 and WS2 with IP Address 192.168.100.2 255.255.255.0 and a default-gateway of 192.168.100.1

6. Ping between any devices to test connectivity

GUI Based : 

Description : This lab exercise demonstrates RIP version2 configuration and evaluates connectivity between the devices. The router rip version 2 command selects RIP V2 as the Routing Protocol. The network command assigns a major network number that the router is directly connected to.

Instructions:

1.Select R1 from Select Device drop down box.

2. Choose configure > Interface Management >Interface and Connections.

3. In Edit Interface connections tab select the e0 interface and click edit button

4. Configure the IP address as 192.168.101.1 255.255.0.0 and enable the interface status.

5. In Edit Interface connections tab select the S0 interface and click edit button

6. Configure the IP address as 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 and enable interface status.

7. Choose Router > Dynamic Routing select RIP from the protocol list and click Edit button.

8. In the Edit IP dynamic routing window select RIP version2 click add button.

9. Enter 192.168.1.0 as network address and click OK button.

10. Click Add button again in Edit IP dynamic routing screen and enter 192.168.101.0 as network address and click OK button. 

11. Select device R2 from Select Device drop down box.

12. Repeat steps 2-12 for configuring R2 E0 interface ip address as 192.168.100.1 255.255.255.0 and S0 interface ip address as 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 and network address 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.100.0 

13. Select WS1 from select device drop down box

14. Repeat steps 2-6 for configuring WS1 E0 interface ip address as 192.168.101.2 255.255.255.0 and default gateway 192.168.101.1 

15. Select WS2 from select device drop down box

16. Repeat steps 2-6 for configuring WS2 E0 interface ip address as 192.168.100.2 255.255.255.0 and default gateway 192.168.100.1

17. Check the connectivity using utilities > ping and traceroute
